This week, I’ve been on a reading spree, ripping through four great books of varying vintages.
First up was Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld (who wrote Rodham, a brilliant alternative history of Hillary Clinton). It’s, well, a romantic comedy, but it morphs into a pandemic novel – my first, I realise.
Evie Wyld’s All the Birds, Singing was next: a powerful story about a mysterious young woman on a sheep farm, with fantastical elements, and an interesting way with timelines. Nail-biting.
